PRE-SELECTION & SELECTION INFORMATION

1  –  PRE-SELECTION. Pre-selection of your file, please send by email these 3 following points: (email at kitchen.print.biennale@gmail.com)

• Name, surname, date of birth, postal address, country and email address. If you want, you can specify your artistic studies, personal artistic approach, exhibitions, possible prices…
• You can offer up 1 to 3 images to the pre-selection in your email. The prints must be photographed correctly until the corners of the white margins. Please also attach several close-ups. It is essential to show the paper as it is in its entirety and in detail in order to limit the risks of refusal of the image at its reception in reality conditions. A single image will be selected and to send.
• A short text of your composition presenting your artistic intention concerning precisely each print sent by email. Minimum two sentences, max four. Please specify also the title of the print, the printing technique used and the total paper print size with the white margin included to the nearest millimeter. 

2 – SELECTION. After your email, Atelier Kitchen Print curators will answer you and announce the selected a print (if selected). You will receive an email inviting you to send the selected print at Émilie AiZiER, Kitchen PRiNT BiENNALE. 28, Allée des Charmilles. 88130 Charmes – France. No return of the print possible whatever happens because it will be considered as a gift. The print received in our mailbox will be scanned and added in the online gallery HERE. The deadline for the submission of works is December 31, 2022. The print should be received before January 31, 2023. After the January 31, 2023 it can be refused. No return of the print possible whatever happens.

ADDITIONAL PRINTING INFORMATION

3 – The print must have been printed in at least 5 copies (max 150) in the technique of art printing of the choice of the artist. The artist must have made the print by himself or using a machine driven by himself.

4 – The size of the printed paper must be minimum 20 x 28 cm and 21 x 29.7 cm maximum (A4). Please respect this instruction to the millimeter. Vertical format advised even horizontal is possible. 20 x 28 cm MIN ≥ Paper print size ≤ 21 x 29.7 cm MAX

5 – Advice for the exhibition of a quality work. Prefer to use a real good quality fine art printing paper, like a 50 or 100% rag paper if possible. Please send a perfectly flat print. Avoid prints made on a lower quality paper such as wood cellulose because they are difficult to lay flat and this leads to a less attractive presentation to the public. In addition, a non flat print gives a bad scan with shadow effects on the whole image due to the curled paper. For information, prints received that still curl will be wetted and flattened, so please use greasy inks or non-water sensitive inks !

6 – THE CONTRACT.

GIFT: No return of the print possible whatever happens, a gift is a gift. Concerning the paper print, it will be put up for sale for the benefit of the Kitchen Print Biennale during and after the exhibition, and at its entirely discretion.

CONTRACT: Before the real sending of your image, this sentence (contract) must be written by hand with an HB graphite pencil on a separated paper. Join this sentence with your print.

‘I am donating this print and I share its rights with Émilie Aizier, Atelier Kitchen Print who will have the right, like me, to use the image freely and for free. This image called ‘title’ *  was printed with the technique of **…………………………………. ………………… + First name + Last name + Country + Date + Signature.

* Title obligatory to identify the print!

** Example of technique: ‘woodcut’ or other example ‘etching on copper’ or ‘Kitchen lithography on aluminum foil’ …

Émilie AIZIER, Atelier KitchenPrint asks you to give the print and share the rights to the image freely and free of charge with her. Regarding image rights: Each party (Artist / Émilie Aizier, Kitchen Print Biennale) will be authorized to freely publish (without asking for rights) the image in a magazine, in a social media publication, in a book etc. The only thing is that each party agrees to always specify the artist author of the image and the Kitchen Print Biennale. Example: © Artist Name — Kitchen Print BIENNALE.

7 – Avoid any collage or highlighting or mixed media (no watercolor, no gouache) done in order to make the printing single-state: They will be refused. Only stenciling, cutting, or other technique following a template for the reproduction of the image in several similar copies will be accepted. The technique of Chine-collé is accepted on condition that the paper is really Chinese or Japanese paper (very resistant luxury paper made of mulberry bark…). Be careful, the Kitchen Litho prize needs a key-plate with Kitchen Litho technique. Idem for the Intaglio prize, it needs a key-plate with intaglio technique…

8 – Free theme, theme representing your personal artistic concerns. Registration is open to artists from 18 years old. Free participation in exchange for the gift of the print (no return possible). Your print may be sold for the benefit of the biennial during and after the exhibition. The sale is at the biennial’s discretion.

9 – Keep your matrices imperatively until the end of the to the statement of jury prizes. They may be requested by the jury, thank you.

FURTHER INFORMATION

10 –  Kitchen Print Biennale team declines any responsibility in case of refusal, cancellation of the contest or modifications of the present rules. The print received in our mailbox in France can be refused and you need to be engaged to accept this very rare possibility (indeed, the pre-selection by email avoid most of problems). The final acceptance of the print is left to the discretion of the Kitchen Print Biennale team and the jury. 

11 – Please register you now at the NEWSLETTER to receive competition news! The participating artist need register by himself to the Atelier Kitchen Print newsletter. It will inform of the evolution of the contest and about our activities.

12 – Each participant selected will have a dedicated page in the web gallery of Atelier Kitchen Print website HERE. Each participant is invited to share freely the link of his page on Facebook, Instagram etc.. An exhibition of all participants will take place in the Cultural center of Épinal, the city of images, a cancellation can happen (so far there has never been a cancellation!). Your print could also be sold and take off during the exhibition.

13 – A professional jury composed of nine members will see your art work and read your short text, List HERE.

14 – Three prizes to win! One prize for the Kitchen Litho technique, two prizes for other printmaking techniques (Intaglio, linocut, etching etc.). Our partner ‘The Hand Magazine’ will offer one magazine presenting the contest and his winners. Atelier Kitchen Print will offer engraved pliers to the winners. The supplier ‘JoopStoop’ will offer some art printing material. The French magazine ‘Art & métiers du Livre’ will offer some magazines.

15 – Communication by email only. For good and real communication, you must have a valid email address that you check regularly. You will have to provide answers. You can speak with the language that suits you best. We can only answer you in French, English or Spanish language. INFORMATIONS DE PRÉ-SÉLECTION ET DE SÉLECTION

1  –  PRÉ-SÉLECTION. Pré-sélection de votre dossier, merci d’envoyer par courriel ces 3 points suivants : (kitchen.print.biennale@gmail.com)

• Nom, prénom, date de naissance, adresse postale, pays et adresse e-mail. Si vous le souhaitez, vous pouvez préciser vos études artistiques, démarche artistique personnelle, expositions, tarifs éventuels…
• Vous pouvez proposer jusqu’à 1 à 3 images à la présélection dans votre email. Les tirages doivent être photographiés correctement jusqu’aux coins des marges blanches. Veuillez également joindre plusieurs gros plans. Il est indispensable de montrer le papier tel qu’il est dans son intégralité et en détail afin de limiter les risques de refus de l’image à sa réception dans les conditions réelles. Une seule image sera sélectionnée et à envoyer.
• Un court texte de votre composition présentant votre intention artistique concernant précisément chaque estampe envoyée par email. Minimum deux phrases, maximum quatre. Veuillez également préciser le titre du tirage, la technique d’impression utilisée et la taille totale du tirage papier avec la marge blanche incluse au millimètre près.

2 – SÉLECTION. Après votre courriel, sélection d’une estampe par l’équipe de la Kitchen Print Biennale. Vous recevrez un email vous invitant à envoyer l’impression sélectionnée à Émilie AiZiER, Kitchen PRiNT BiENNALE. 28, Allée des Charmilles. 88130 Charmes – France. Aucun retour des estampes, quoi qu’il arrive. L’image sélectionnée sera scannée et ajoutée dans la galerie en ligne ICI. La date limite de dépôt des œuvres est le 31 décembre 2023. L’estampe doit être reçue avant le 31 janvier 2023, après le 31 janvier 2023 elle pourra être refusée. Une fois reçue, aucune estampe ne sera retournée.

INFORMATIONS SUPPLÉMENTAIRES SUR L’IMPRESSION

3 – L’estampe doit avoir été tirée en 5 exemplaires minimum (max 150) dans la technique d’impression d’art au choix de l’artiste. L’artiste doit avoir réalisé l’estampe par lui-même ou à l’aide d’une machine conduite par lui-même.

4 – Le format du papier imprimé doit être au minimum de 20 x 28 cm et au maximum de 21 x 29,7 cm (A4). Merci de respecter cette consigne au millimètre près en ce qui concerne le format le plus grand (le scan au-delà d’un A4 n’est pas possible). Format vertical conseillé voire horizontal possible. 20 x 28 cm MIN ≥ Format d’impression papier ≤ 21 x 29,7 cm MAX

5 – LE CONTRAT. Avant l’envoi réel de votre image, cette phrase (contrat) doit être écrite au crayon graphite HB sur un papier A4. Ce contrat doit accompagner votre envoi.

‘Je fais don de ce tirage et je partage ses droits avec Émilie Aizier, Atelier Kitchen Print qui aura le droit, comme moi, d’utiliser l’image librement et gratuitement. Cette image a été imprimée avec la technique de *…………………………………………. ………………… + Prénom + NOM + Pays + Date + Signature.

* Exemple de technique : ‘gravure sur bois’ ou autre exemple ‘gravure sur cuivre’ ou ‘Lithographie de cuisine sur feuille d’aluminium’ …

INFO SUR LE DON. Pas de retour de l’estampe, un don étant un don; L’estampe sera mise à la vente au profit de la Kitchen Print Biennale (pendant et après l’exposition) et à son entière discrétion.

Concernant les droits à l’image : Émilie AIZIER, Atelier KitchenPrint vous demande de lui donner l’estampe et de partager les droits de l’image librement et gratuitement avec elle. Chaque partie (artiste / Émilie Aizier, Kitchen Print Biennale) sera autorisée à publier librement (sans demander de droits) l’image dans un magazine, dans une publication de réseau social, dans un livre etc. La seule chose est que chaque partie s’engage à toujours préciser l’artiste auteur de l’image et la Kitchen Print Biennale. Exemple:  © Nom de l’artiste — Kitchen Print BIENNALE.

6 – Évitez tout collage ou rehauts ou technique mixte (pas d’aquarelle, pas de gouache) réalisés dans le but de rendre l’impression à l’état unique : Ils seront refusés. Rappel, pas de retour possible, une fois l’estampe reçue. Seuls les pochoirs, découpages ou autres techniques suivant un gabarit permettant la reproduction de l’image en plusieurs exemplaires similaires seront acceptés. La technique du Chine-collé est acceptée à la condition que le papier soit vraiment un papier de Chine ou Japon*, veillez à ce que l’impression envoyée soit parfaitement plate (*papier de luxe très résistant composé d’écorce de mûrier…).

Prudence, le prix Kitchen Litho nécessite une plaque-clé (ou planche mère) avec la technique Kitchen Litho. Idem pour le prix de gravure.

7 – Thème libre, thème représentant vos préoccupations artistiques personnelles habituelles. L’inscription est ouverte aux artistes à partir de 18 ans. Participation gratuite en échange du don de l’estampe (aucun retour possible).

8 – Conservez impérativement vos matrices jusqu’à la fin de la remise des prix du jury. Ils peuvent être demandés par le jury, merci.

9 – Conseil de présentation pour l’exposition d’une œuvre de qualité. Préférez utiliser un vrai papier d’impression d’art de bonne qualité, comme un papier 50 minimum ou 100% chiffon si possible. Veuillez envoyer une impression parfaitement plate. Évitez les tirages réalisés sur un papier de qualité inférieure en cellulose de bois car ils sont difficiles à mettre à plat et cela conduit à une présentation moins attrayante pour le public. De plus, une impression non plate donne un mauvais scan avec des effets d’ombre sur toute l’image dus au papier gondolé. Pour information, les impressions reçues qui gondolent encore seront mouillées et aplaties à l’atelier, veuillez donc utiliser des encres grasses ou des encres non sensibles à l’eau !

INFORMATIONS COMPLÉMENTAIRES

10– L’équipe de Kitchen Print Biennale décline toute responsabilité en cas de refus, d’annulation du concours ou de modification du présent règlement. L’impression reçue dans notre boîte aux lettres en France peut être finalement refusée et vous devez être engagé pour accepter cette possibilité très rare (en effet, la présélection par email évite la plupart des problèmes). L’acceptation de l’estampe est laissée à l’appréciation de l’équipe de la Kitchen Print Biennale et du jury.

11 – Merci de vous inscrire à la newsletter pour recevoir l’actualité du concours ! L’artiste participant doit s’inscrire lui-même à l’infolettre (newsletter) de l’Atelier Kitchen Print. Elle informera de l’évolution du concours et de nos activités. Vous ne recevrez pas d’infolettre si vous ne vous inscrivez pas.

12 – Chaque participant sélectionné aura une page dédiée dans la galerie web du site Atelier Kitchen Print ICI. Chaque participant est invité à partager librement le lien de sa page sur Facebook, Instagram etc.. Une exposition de tous les participants aura lieu au Centre culturel d’Épinal « la cité des images », une annulation de l’exposition peut toutefois arriver (bien que jusqu’à présent il n’y en pas eu). Votre estampe pourra être vendue et décrochée durant l’exposition.

13 – Un jury professionnel composé de neuf membres verra votre travail et lira votre court texte, Liste JURY ICI.

14 – Trois prix à gagner ! Un prix pour la technique Kitchen Litho, deux prix pour les autres techniques de l’estampe, prix décerné par le jury. Notre partenaire ‘The Hand Magazine’ proposera un magazine présentant le concours et ses gagnants. Atelier Kitchen Print offrira des pinces gravées aux gagnants. L’entreprise JoopStoop offrira du petit matériel d’impression d’art.

15 – Communication par courriel (email) uniquement. Pour communiquer avec nous, vous devez avoir une adresse email valide que vous consultez régulièrement et à laquelle vous répondez. Vous pouvez parler avec la langue qui vous convient le mieux. Nous ne pouvons vous répondre qu’en langue française, anglaise ou espagnole.
