Organized by the Kitchen Litho inventor Émilie Aizier & Atelier Kitchen Print.
The new « homemade print » competition is out! Calls for participation now! that is our will. An exhibition is planned in Épinal. We are looking for a showroom.
The objective of this competition is to present quality artists from around the world, to celebrate printmaking and ‘do it yourself’ manners. It is a question of making the public discover the world of printmaking and the richness of the graphic effects produced by the use of different techniques of fine art print. The selecteded print will be displayed in the website’s online gallery HERE. An exhibition is planned for the near future.
Celebrate printmaking as a reflection of the ingenuity of the hand and of human creativity. All hand-printed image techniques are welcome, whether traditional (etching, mezzotint, old-fashioned lithography, etc.) or contemporary (kitchen lithography, cardboard engraving, soy wax engraving, etc.).

APPEL À PARTICIPATION ! 7ème édition
Concours organisé par l’Atelier Kitchen Print et Émilie Aizier inventrice de la Kitchen Litho.
L’objectif de ce concours est de présenter des artistes de qualité du monde entier, de célébrer la gravure imprimée à la main par les artistes. Il s’agit de faire découvrir au public la richesse des effets graphiques de l’estampe produits par l’utilisation des différentes techniques d’impression d’art. Chaque estampe sélectionnée sera exposée dans la galerie web de ce site ICI. Une exposition des estampes du concours est prévue, dates et lieu à venir.
Valoriser l’estampe comme reflet de l’intelligence de la main et de l’humain ! Telle est notre volonté. Toutes les techniques d’images imprimées à la main sont les bienvenues: qu’elles soient traditionnelles (eau-forte, manière noire, lithographie à l’ancienne …) ou contemporaines (Kitchen Litho, gravure sur carton, gravure à la cire de soja, etc.).

Free participation in exchange for the gift of one print.
A4 format. (Paper Min. 18 x 27cm tolerated – Paper Big Max A4: 21 x 29,7 cm). Horizontal or vertical.
Free theme, your usual favorite theme.
Images submitted to the competition must be royalty-free.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
PRE-SELECTION BY EMAIL FIRST!
Pre-selection of your file, please send by email these 4 following points at kitchen.print.biennale@gmail.com
- Name, Surname, Residence Country. If you want (facultative but appreciated), you can specify your artistic studies, personal artistic approach, exhibitions, possible prizes…
- You can offer up 1 to 3 images to the pre-selection inside your email. The prints must be photographed correctly (medium definition photo sufficient about 400 KB possible) until the corners of the white margins. Please also attach several close-ups if possible. It is essential to show the paper as it is in its entirety and in detail in order to limit the risks of refusal of the image at its reception in reality conditions. A single print will be selected for the contest and to send by mail.
- Specify the title of each print, the printing technique used and the total paper print size with the white margin included to the nearest millimeter.
- A short text of your composition presenting a short description of the image and your artistic intention concerning precisely each print (Minimum two sentences, max three).
- The images submitted to the competition must be royalty-free, please ensure this.

1 – APPLICATION / PRE-SELECTION BY EMAIL FIRST:
Pre-selection of your file, please send by email these 4 following points at kitchen.print.biennale@gmail.com
- Name, Surname, Residence Country. If you want (facultative but appreciated), you can specify your artistic studies, personal artistic approach, exhibitions, possible prizes…
- You can offer up 1 to 3 images to the pre-selection in your email. The prints must be photographed correctly until the corners of the white margins. Please also attach several close-ups. 2 – SELECTION. Atelier Kitchen Print curators will answer you and announce if a print is selected. You will receive an email inviting you to send the selected print at Émilie AiZiER EI, Kitchen PRiNT BiENNALE. 29 BIS, Rue Vautrin. 88000 Épinal – France. No return of the print is possible whatever happens because it will be considered as a gift and the print must be royalty-free. The print received in our mailbox will be scanned and added in the online gallery HERE.
Here is an idea to limit your participation costs. You can group up with other engravers who would like to participate. But every artist must contact us first, one by one and personally, by email to find out if their print is selected. Then, a person from the group whose members have been selected can organize the sending of the package containing everyone’s prints. It will need to notify us by email of the group shipment.
3 – The print must have been printed in at least 5 copies to get chance to receive a prize (max edition 250) in the technique of art printing of the choice of the artist. But you will send only one print, one copy. The artist must have made the print by himself or using a machine driven by himself. The print must be numbered, titled and signed just below or near the printed image, informations here https://lithographie–collection-com.translate.goog . Prints signed on the back or non signed at all will be refused.
4 – The size of the printed paper must be minimum arround 18 x 27 cm to 21 x 29.7 cm maximum precisely (A4). Please respect this instruction to the millimeter. Vertical format advised even horizontal is possible. 18 x 27 cm arr. MIN ≥ Paper print size ≤ 21 x 29.7 cm MAX. The print must fit into an A4-sized plastic sleeve.
5 – Advice for the exhibition of a quality work. Prefer to use a real good quality fine art printing paper, like a 50 to 100% rag paper if possible. Avoid prints made on a lower quality paper such as wood cellulose if possible, avoid paper not intended for fine art printing because they do not support wetting, indeed it is difficult to lay flat after from our side. For information, prints received that still curl will be wetted and flattened, so PLEASE you need to use real greasy inks (or non-water sensitive inks when it’s dry).
6 – CONTRACT. Preparing to send the image when accepted : you will need to make a photocopy of the print (in black & white or in color, a reduction of the image is possible). Please write this sentence (the contract) on this copy in HB or 2B graphite pencil*. You will be invited by email to send this signed copy with your real selected print. The images submitted to the competition must be royalty-free for Émilie AIZIER EI, Atelier Kitchen PRINT, please ensure this.
‘I donate this print titled ‘…………………….’ . I share the rights of this image with Émilie Aizier EI, Atelier Kitchen Print, who may use it freely and free of charge. This image was printed using the technique of ……………(feel free to give details of the matrix, the reciep etc.)…………… + First NAME + SURNAME + COUNTRY + DATE + SIGNATURE.
*The graphite pencil is perennial, that’s why you also sign your prints with it.
Regarding image rights: Émilie AIZIER, Atelier KitchenPrint asks you to give her the print and share the image rights freely and free of charge with her. Each party (artist / Émilie Aizier, Kitchen Print Biennale) will be allowed to freely publish the image without asking for rights or permission, in a magazine, in a social media publication, in a book etc. The artist author of the image will be mentioned in case of publication.
DONATION INFO: No return of the print possible whatever happens, a gift is a gift. Send only one print. Concerning the paper print, it will be put up for sale for the benefit of the Kitchen Print Biennale during and after the exhibition, and at its entirely discretion.
7 – Avoid any collage or highlighting or mixed media (no watercolor, no gouache) done in order to make the printing single-state: They will be refused. Only stenciling, cutting, or other technique following a template for the reproduction of the image in several similar copies will be accepted. The technique of Chine-collé is accepted on condition that the paper is really Chinese or Japanese paper (very resistant luxury paper made of mulberry bark…).
8 – Free theme, theme representing your personal artistic concerns. Registration is open to artists from 17 years old.
9 – Keep your matrices imperatively until the end of the to the statement of jury prizes. They may be requested by the jury, thank you. Be careful, the Kitchen Litho prize needs a key-plate with Kitchen Litho technique.
10 – Kitchen Print Biennale team declines any responsibility in case of refusal, cancellation of the contest or modifications of the present rules. The print received in our mailbox in France can be refused in the competition and you need to be engaged to accept this very rare possibility (indeed, the pre-selection by email avoid most of problems). The final acceptance of the print is left to the discretion of the Kitchen Print Biennale team and the jury.
11 – Please register you now at the NEWSLETTER to receive competition news! The participating artist need register by himself to the Atelier Kitchen Print newsletter. It will inform of the evolution of the contest and about our activities. You will not receive a newsletter if you do not subscribe.
12 – Each participant selected will have a dedicated page in the web gallery of Atelier Kitchen Print website, link HERE. Each participant is invited to share freely the link of his page on Facebook, Instagram etc. An exhibition of all participants will take place if possible. A cancellation can happen (so far there has never been a cancellation!). Your print could also be sold and take off during the exhibition.
13 – A professional jury will see your art work and read your short text, List HERE.
14 – Three prizes to win! One special prize for the « Kitchen Litho » technique. One prize for « Intaglio » and one last « Printed art » for all techniques as linocut, etching, carving on cardboard, Kitchen Litho, intaglio etc.).
15 – Communication by email only. For good and real communication, you must have a valid email address that you check regularly. You will have to provide answers. You can speak with the language that suits you best in English or Spanish or French. R È G L E M E N T C O M P L E T
1 – PRÉ-SÉLECTION. Dossier à envoyer dès maintenant par email à kitchen.print.biennale@gmail.com
- Votre Nom, Prénom, Pays de résidence.
Si vous le souhaitez (facultatif), vous pouvez préciser vos études artistiques, votre démarche artistique personnelle générale, expositions… - Vous pouvez proposer jusqu’à 1 à 3 images à la pré-sélection dans votre email. Une seule image sera sélectionnée et vous serez invité ensuite à l’envoyer par courrier papier. Les images proposées au concours doivent être libre de droits, merci de contacter et de prévenir l’ADAGP si vous y êtes affiliés.
Les estampes doivent être photographiées correctement jusqu’aux bords des marges blanches. Veuillez également joindre un ou deux gros plans si possible. Il est indispensable de montrer le papier tel qu’il est dans son intégralité et en détails afin de limiter les risques de refus de l’image à sa réception dans les conditions réelles. - Veuillez préciser le titre, la technique d’impression utilisée et le format du papier avec la marge blanche incluse au millimètre près. Prudence, le format ne doit pas excéder le format A4 (21 x 29,7 cm MAX), cela peut être légèrement plus petit mais pas plus grand pour que l’estampe rentre dans la pochette transparente du classeur.
- Rédigez un court texte présentant votre intention artistique pour chaque estampe. Minimum une phrase, maximum trois. Décrivez brièvement l’image et ensuite votre intention artistique.
2 – SÉLECTION. Après votre courriel de pré-sélection (C.F. paragraphe ci-dessus), il y aura l’étude de votre dossier envoyé par email. Si une estampe a été retenue, vous recevrez par email la procédure à suivre pour envoyer l’impression sélectionnée à Émilie AiZiER EI, Kitchen PRiNT BiENNALE. 29 BIS, rue Vautrin. 88000 Épinal – France. Aucun retour des estampes, quoi qu’il arrive. L’image sélectionnée sera scannée et ajoutée dans la galerie en ligne ICI. Une fois reçue, aucune estampe ne sera retournée même si vous vous êtes trompé.
Vous pouvez vous regrouper avec d’autres graveurs qui souhaiteraient participer. Chacun devra nous contacter dans un premier temps personnellement un par un par email pour la pre-selection. Ensuite, une personne du groupe dont les membres ont été sélectionnés pourra organiser l’envoi d’un paquet regroupant les estampes de chacun. Il faudra qu’elle nous prévienne par email de l’envoi groupé.
3 – L’estampe doit avoir été tirée en 5 exemplaires minimum (max 250) dans la technique d’impression d’art au choix de l’artiste. L’artiste doit avoir réalisé l’estampe par lui-même ou à l’aide d’une machine mécanique conduite par lui-même. Un seul exemplaire est à envoyer. L’estampe doit être numérotée, intitulée et signée du côté de l’image imprimée. Informations sur ce site https://lithographie-collection.com/signature-estampe . Les estampes signées au dos ou non signées seront refusées.
4 – Le format du papier imprimé doit être au minimum de 18 x 27 cm minimum et au maximum de 21 x 29,7 cm (A4) précisément pour que l’image rentre dans la pochette transparente du classeur. Format vertical ou horizontal. 18 x 27 cm MIN ≥ Format d’impression papier ≤ 21 x 29,7 cm MAX.
5 – LE CONTRAT. Avant l’envoi réel de votre image par courrier papier, vous serez invité à faire une photocopie A4 de l’estampe (en noir & blanc ou couleur, une réduction de l’image est possible aussi). Merci d’écrire cette phrase (le contrat) sur la copie à la main au crayon graphite HB ou 2B*. Il faudra envoyer la copie signée avec votre estampe dans l’enveloppe. Les images proposées au concours doivent être libre de droits pour Émilie AIZIER EI, Atelier Kitchen PRINT, merci de vous en assurer.
‘Je fais don de cette estampe intitulée “……………………” . Je partage les droits de cette image avec Émilie Aizier EI, Atelier Kitchen Print, qui pourra l’utiliser librement et sans frais. Cette image a été imprimée avec la technique de la …………………sur ………… (n’hésitez pas donner des détails) + Prénom + NOM + PAYS + DATE + Signature.
*Le crayon graphite est pérenne, c’est pourquoi vous signez aussi vos estampes avec ce crayon.
INFO SUR LE DON. Pas de retour de l’estampe, un don étant un don. L’estampe sera mise à la vente au profit de la Kitchen Print Biennale (pendant et après l’exposition) et à son entière discrétion.
Infos complémentaires : Concernant les droits à l’image : Émilie AIZIER EI (Entreprise individuelle) Atelier Kitchen Print vous demande de lui donner l’estampe et de partager les droits de l’image librement et gratuitement avec elle. Chaque partie (artiste / Émilie Aizier EI, Kitchen Print Biennale) sera autorisée à publier librement l’image sans demander de droits, ni d’autorisation, dans un magazine, dans une publication de réseau social, dans un livre etc. L’artiste de l’image sera mentionné en cas de publication.
6 – Évitez tout collage ou rehauts ou technique mixte (pas d’aquarelle, pas de gouache) réalisés dans le but de rendre l’impression à l’état d’ »unique » : Ils seront refusés. Seuls les pochoirs, découpages ou autres techniques suivant un gabarit permettant la reproduction de l’image en plusieurs exemplaires similaires seront acceptés. La technique du Chine-collé est acceptée à la condition que le papier soit un papier fin, uni et sans motif, comme le papier de Chine ou Japon (papier de luxe très résistant composé d’écorce de mûrier…).
7 – Thème libre, thème représentant vos préoccupations artistiques personnelles habituelles. L’inscription est ouverte aux artistes à partir de 18 ans.
8 – Conservez impérativement vos matrices jusqu’à la fin de la remise des prix du jury. Ils peuvent être demandés par le jury pour vérification en vue d’un prix, merci.
9 – Conseil de présentation pour l’exposition d’une œuvre de qualité. Préférez utiliser un vrai papier d’impression d’art de bonne qualité, comme un papier de 50 minimum à 100% chiffon si possible. Évitez les tirages réalisés sur un papier de qualité inférieure car ils peuvent être difficiles à mettre parfaitement à plat. Pour information, les impressions reçues qui gondoleraient encore seront re-mouillées et mises à plat à l’atelier, veuillez donc utiliser du papier chiffon et des encres grasses (pas d’encre à l’eau ou sensibles à l’eau).
10 – L’équipe de la Kitchen Print Biennale décline toute responsabilité en cas de refus, d’annulation du concours ou de modification du présent règlement. L’impression reçue dans notre boîte aux lettres en France peut être finalement refusée et vous devez être engagé pour accepter cette possibilité très rare (en effet, la présélection par email évite la plupart des problèmes). L’acceptation de l’estampe est laissée à l’appréciation de l’équipe de la Kitchen Print Biennale et du Jury.
11 – Merci de vous inscrire à la newsletter pour recevoir l’actualité du concours ! L’artiste participant doit s’inscrire lui-même à l’infolettre (newsletter) de l’Atelier Kitchen Print. Elle informera de l’évolution du concours et de nos activités en général. Vous ne recevrez pas d’infolettre si vous ne vous inscrivez pas.
12 – Chaque participant sélectionné aura une page dédiée dans la galerie web du site Atelier Kitchen Print ICI. Chaque participant est invité à partager librement le lien de la page sur Facebook, Instagram etc.. Une exposition de tous les participants devrait avoir lieu à Épinal durant l’été 2028. Une annulation de l’exposition peut toutefois arriver (bien que jusqu’à présent il n’y en pas eu, on touche du bois). Votre estampe pourra être vendue et décrochée durant l’exposition ou ultérieurement.
13 – Un jury professionnel verra votre travail et lira votre court texte, Liste JURY ICI.
14 – Trois prix sont à gagner ! Un prix spécial est dédié à la technique Kitchen Litho, les deux autres prix concernent toutes les techniques de l’estampe Gravure en creux et Impression d’art (toutes techniques confondues, gravure sur carton, eau-forte, Kitchen Litho, linogravure, lithographie etc.). L’atelier offrira des mitaines au lauréats, les autres partenaires des lots.
