I see these pine trees often. This time I photographed them from my friend Christian Duro’s boat during a trip to Douarnenez Bay. He was a friend with whom I used to go sea fishing. Duro was also a big name in Brittany’s clarinet scene, and he left us this year; he went to the other side, as they say. For the image, I reworked the trees intuitively and tried to synthesize their contours to rediscover the graphic strength of their whole.

Ces pins, je les vois souvent. Cette fois-ci je les ai photographiés depuis le bateau de mon ami Christian Duro lors d’une sortie en baie de Douarnenez. Il était un ami avec qui je partais pêcher en mer. Duro était aussi un grand nom de la clarinette en Bretagne et il nous a quitté cette année, il est parti de l’autre côté comme on dit. Pour l’image, j’ai retravaillé les arbres à l’intuition et tenté de synthétiser leurs contours pour retrouver la force graphique de leur ensemble.
